Required disclosure (Amazon Associates)
Remote Office Guy is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com
The short version
When you click a product link on this site and make a purchase, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never influences which products I recommend or how I rank them. If I think a product is bad, I say so — regardless of whether it has an affiliate program.
How affiliate links work
Affiliate links contain a tracking code that tells the retailer or manufacturer that you arrived via this site. If you complete a purchase within a set window (typically 24–30 days), I receive a percentage of the sale — usually between 1–4% depending on the program.
You pay the same price you would otherwise. The commission comes from the retailer’s margin, not from a markup on your end.

What this means for editorial independence
Affiliate relationships do not determine rankings. Products are evaluated on specs, real-world performance, value, and user feedback — not on commission rate. A product with no affiliate program can appear as a top recommendation. A product with a generous commission can still be listed in the “avoid” section if it’s not worth buying.
The site’s long-term value depends on trust. A recommendation that earns a commission but sends you to a bad product destroys that trust permanently. That’s a worse outcome than no commission at all.
FTC compliance
This disclosure is made in accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255). Affiliate relationships are disclosed at the page level in every article that contains affiliate links.
